"Why are you calling me so early in the morning?"

The old woman was a little surprised, too.

As far as she could remember, if she wasn't mistaken, her grandson had never called her this early before.

"Grandma..."

The young man grinned. "I thought you might not hear the phone..."

The young man hurried up to the third floor. Just as he was about to knock, he noticed the door was ajar.

He knew the old woman had deliberately left it open for him.

He pushed the door open.

He wasn't surprised not to see anyone in the living room.

He headed for the balcony, knowing his way around.

Sure enough, the old woman was watering the flowers with a watering can, carefully brushing their petals and leaves with her hand every now and then.

Her expression was gentle, and a smile played on her lips.

"Grandma."

The young man called out.

"Xiao Yi."

The old woman turned around, the wrinkles at the corners of her eyes smoothing out. "You got here so quickly."

"Have you had breakfast?"

She put down the watering can and walked over to him.

"I have."

The young man nodded.

"Then have a bowl of mung bean soup."

The old woman smiled warmly. "You came at just the right time today."

"Grandma just made mung bean soup yesterday."

"Grandma also made mung bean cakes."

"Have some of everything."

"These mung bean cakes turned out really well."

The old woman chattered on.

When she'd received her grandson's call earlier, she'd already put the mung bean soup on the dining table.

There was also a big plate of mung bean cakes.

Boys had big appetites, after all.

Seeing the old woman already serving him mung bean soup, the young man smiled wryly.
