Old Meng suddenly remembered his original purpose.

A few people looked at him with sympathy.

"Guess he didn't inherit it?"

"Don't be afraid."
Old Meng mistook the child's fear for fear of the monster.
"Don't be afraid."
"Dad's here."
"He's afraid of you."
Someone couldn't help saying it.

The unexpected words made Old Meng turn toward the person who'd spoken.
The speaker couldn't help taking a step back.
