Want to See a Panda
These two creatures, so vastly different in size...
had something in common, too.
Seeing one could make someone think of the other.
They weren't completely unrelated.
Xu Hao found it rather interesting.
Before seeing what a panda looked like, it never would have guessed that the panda the child said resembled a goldfish would look like this.
It wanted to see a panda.
Even though it had seen what a panda looked like—
Humans really were impressive in some ways.
This image...
was just like a real panda had been captured inside a tiny screen.
But it wasn't.
It knew this panda wasn't real.
It couldn't move.
Hmm.
Humans had moving images, too.
It knew that.
It had seen them.
The woman had once loved watching videos on her phone.
It could hear all kinds of sounds coming from the phone.
It had caught a glimpse now and then.
The little people on the screen moved just like real ones.
Even the animals' fur was rendered down to the finest detail.
Though it wasn't the first time it had seen this...
it still found it astonishing.
Humans were useless in all sorts of ways...
but maybe they weren't quite so useless after all.
In some respects...
humans were amazing.
Amazing in a way that was different from monsters.
A way monsters couldn't manage.
Xu Hao still wanted to see a panda with its own eyes.
Xiao Xiao paused in surprise.
He tilted his head toward Xu Hao. "You want to see a panda?"
Xu Hao nodded.
Since it had already said so, there was no reason not to admit it.
