"I know you're right there."
"You should be able to hear me, too."
The child clenched her fists.
For a moment, panic and helplessness swept over her.
Then she realized Teacher Chen couldn't see her, and she felt a little more at ease.
"Don't want to see me?"
"Is it because your parents told you something?"
"It's not nice to talk badly about people behind their backs—"
The child suddenly rushed out of the bushes.
"My parents didn't say anything bad about you!"
Teacher Chen had better not say anything bad about her parents!
The child was furious.
She wouldn't let anyone say a single bad thing about her parents!
The woman smiled.
"You came out."
The child froze.
Then her expression stiffened.
Why had she come out?
She'd promised her parents...
Would they be angry if they found out?
At the thought, the child turned to leave.
"Wait."
As if she'd seen what the child was thinking, the woman spoke before the child could move.
"It'll only take a few words."
"I won't take up much of your time."
The child shook her head.
"No."
Her parents had told her not to talk to Teacher Chen.
"You want to go back on your word?"
The woman said.
"You're breaking your promise."
Huh?
The child froze.
What?
She was breaking her promise?
She wasn't.
She always kept her word.
That was something her parents had always taught her: to be an honest person.
The child frowned.
She looked at the woman again. "Don't make things up."
The ponytailed girl and the short-haired girl watched the child and the woman go back and forth.
They looked bewildered.
