Sky Horse

"Mm, Little Bell is a good girl. Of course she didn't do it on purpose."

Xiao Xiao patted the little girl's head.

Aside from Xiao Xiao startling the girl when he suddenly spoke at first, everything else he did—the thoughtfulness of his actions and the gentle, unhurried tone of his voice—had comforted her and made her feel very close to him.

Besides, Xiao Xiao had come to pick her up for her parents.

"It's just—"

The girl couldn't help voicing some of her complaints to this big brother she'd only just met.

"Mommy and Daddy suddenly got really strange."

"The doggy was right beside me, but they said they couldn't see it."

Xiao Xiao looked at the monster beside the girl.

It was a Sky Horse.

There was a beast shaped like a white dog with a black head.

Its name was Sky Horse, and its cry sounded like its own name.

Sky Horses weren't at all friendly toward people. When they saw someone, they flew away.

They usually lived far from human settlements.

Xiao Xiao didn't know how this Sky Horse had come to the city, or how it had met the girl.

But he clearly remembered seeing it standing protectively in front of the girl when he first stepped into the attic. He couldn't help smiling.

Although Sky Horses weren't friendly toward people, they were very protective of those they recognized.

And his initial guess had been right.

The Sky Horse meant the girl no harm.

Once the Sky Horse had confirmed that Xiao Xiao meant no harm, it returned to its original reclining position.

It gave the monsters around Xiao Xiao only a casual glance, then half-lidded its eyes in disinterest, looking languid and aloof.

"Also, I clearly
