The Monster in the Cage

A black shadow curled up inside the cage, its body trembling slightly. It looked weak and in pain.

Yinzi instantly understood.

It was a monster as unlucky as Yinzi had once been.

Had another monster really been locked in this damned cage?

The two humans stayed for a while, then left.

Yinzi didn't leave.

It waited.

Waited for the doctor to arrive.

Yinzi didn't have to wait long.

Soon, it heard footsteps approaching.

It turned to look. The doctor was wearing a white coat, with two nurses behind him.

Yinzi followed them into the hospital room. As quick as lightning, it sprang onto the bed holding the monster-catching cage.

But after what had happened last time, Yinzi kept a full bed's length between itself and the cage.

The monster-catching cage was at the head of the bed, while Yinzi was at the foot... on the railing.

Even now, Yinzi still didn't know how it had ended up trapped in that cage.

To be safe, it wasn't going to go near it.

Yinzi absolutely didn't want to be trapped again.

It never wanted to experience that despair and helplessness again.

Had this monster... also been locked inside for no apparent reason?

Yinzi felt a little sorry for it.

It knew the panic of finding its powers unusable after being locked inside, and the pain of trying everything to escape only to fail.

It was truly terrifying.

But sympathy was just sympathy.

Yinzi had no intention of doing anything about it.

It was helpless against the cage, too.
