The Sandora River flowed into the sea like a sharp sword thrust through the middle of Saintine Island, splitting it in two.
Dream City Rainbase stood across the river from the royal capital, Alubarna.
The few old men who refused to give up surveyed the surrounding area once more.
Then they finally gave up completely.
"Ah, we can only shelve the Rainbase project for now."
Haredas sighed heavily, feeling utterly defeated. "Pack up. Let's head to the next research site."
Rumble, rumble, rumble!
Just as they were about to leave, the ground suddenly shook, and fine sand flowed like water, swallowing their feet.
"An ea-ea-earthquake!?"
"There's a monster!"
Before the terrified eyes of the old men, an enormous creature slowly rose from beneath the desert.
Yellow sand cascaded down like a waterfall, revealing the massive body of a purple scorpion.
Its two vicious pincers were dark and menacing, while the end of its thick, long tail bore a deadly venomous hook. Its beady eyes gleamed with savage scarlet light.
"It's a Sandora Scorpion!"
"Help!!"
"My feet are stuck!"
Haredas and the others turned green with fright, desperately clawing at the sand beneath them as they tried to pull their legs free.
The Sandora Scorpion had no concept of respecting the elderly. It raised its rear high, hanging its thick tail upside down.
Its sharp stinger flashed coldly, blasting through the air like a cannonball.
"Reiner, lad!!" Haredas cried for help at the top of his lungs.
Whoosh!!
At that critical moment, an overwhelming pressure erupted, and a violent gale swept through the area.
It was as if even the surrounding air had been blown away, making it hard to breathe, enough to leave one suffocating.
The deadly venomous stinger abruptly stopped before them.
Under that pressure, the Sandora Scorpion, which
