"About twenty-six years ago, the very year Mr. Tom took me on as an apprentice, Roger's crew arrived at Water 7."
The shadowy outlines of houses on both sides sped past. Reiner's group darted through the alleys, their disorderly footsteps especially loud in the silent night.
Seeing the stunned look in Komurasaki's eyes, Franky felt certain that his guess was probably right. Since she had not spoken up to admit it, he took the initiative and began recounting his own experience.
The group listened as they ran.
Reiner also remembered that the fish-man who invented the Sea Train had built a ship for Roger, but he did not know the full story. He had not expected Franky to have met Oden long ago.
"Roger's crew was just like you guys back then. They rode the Knock Up Stream to the sky island, and after they came back down, their ship was badly damaged. Tom's Workers took on the job of building them a new one."
"Back then, Tom's Workers was based in a warehouse beneath a bridge, and shipbuilding was done at an abandoned shipyard. I'd just been abandoned by my pirate parents, so I spent all day scavenging junk at that shipyard and making cannons. When Oden saw me, he came over and said hello."
As Franky reminisced, he explained why he knew Oden. Then he dropped an even more shocking revelation.
"Come to think of it, that guy was a real oddball. The first thing he said when we met was that I was an orphan. The second thing he said was that he wanted me to join their ship."
Franky chuckled. "So? Ever seen someone that weird before?"
"Ehh?!"
"They invited Franky onto their ship?!"
Everyone's eyes widened in shock.
"Yeah, I turned them down."
Franky nodded
