Ch. 701Don't Move!
Key events
- Ning Yi and the Sword Academy confront a group determined to protect Ye Qiu, despite the threat of death. Their resistance leaves Ning Yi and the onlookers questioning why Ye Qiu matters so much.
- Yun Shu, senior disciple of the Talisman Gate, backs the Sword Academy and orders Wen Ning to withdraw. He uses the Gate’s friendship with the Sword Academy to pressure her and hopes to strengthen his own claim to leadership.
- Wen Ning refuses, saying Ye Qiu is her friend and helped her. Chen Chi quietly recognizes how unusual it is for her to stand up for herself.
- Song Bian of the Confucian Academy also joins the Sword Academy’s side, prompting others—including the Ji Family’s Great Elder and Ji Cheng—to step forward.
- Wen Zizai arrives, slaps Yun Shu away, and declares Ye Qiu the Talisman Gate’s chosen successor. He warns Ning Jian Er that harming Ye Qiu will mean a fight to the death.
- Song Yan, Song Bian’s master, likewise rejects the Sword Academy’s position: he knocks Song Bian aside, expels him from the Confucian Academy, and joins Wen Zizai in confronting Ning Jian Er.
- More powerful figures arrive, warning Ning Jian Er that events will unfold as they say. The crowd—and even the combatants on the Battlefield—falls silent as the confrontation grows far beyond the Sword Academy’s control.
Character developments and interactions
- Wen Ning moves from hesitation to open defiance, choosing loyalty to Ye Qiu over obedience to Yun Shu.
- Yun Shu reveals that his support for the Sword Academy is partly political: he wants to advance his succession bid and undermine Wen Ning. His authority collapses when Wen Zizai publicly strikes and rejects him.
- Wen Zizai makes his allegiance unmistakable by naming Ye Qiu his successor and threatening Ning Jian Er.
- Song Yan similarly breaks with his own disciple, demonstrating that Song Bian’s support for the Sword Academy does not represent the Confucian Academy.
- Ning Jian Er refuses to back down despite growing pressure, caught between caution and pride. The Ji Clan Leader, by contrast, retreats once the balance of power shifts.
