Ch. 781Fang
Plot points and events
- The Immortal Gathering Tower’s local managers repeatedly let Ye Qiu and his companions loot their branches without resistance. In the first city, a manager even hands over his Storage Ring, explaining that his low rank and poor pay make risking his life pointless.
- Ye Qiu realizes the Tower is deliberately allowing the raids, expecting to recover everything when he returns to Myriad Laws Academy. Hu Qiming warns that the Tower has likely prepared carefully—and that the Dragon Clan is also a threat.
- Rather than head straight to the Academy, Ye Qiu continues robbing Tower branches across numerous cities, destroying many of them along the way. He distributes the gathered treasures among his companions and has them consume treasures to grow stronger.
- In Dragon City, Ye Qiu’s group breaks into the Dragon Family estate, takes its treasures, and leaves the compound in ruins. This intensifies the anger of both the Dragon Family and the Immortal Gathering Tower’s Deputy Tower Master, who are waiting near Myriad Laws City to confront him.
- After two days and one night of raids, the group approaches Myriad Laws City. Just before they arrive, a powerful ship emerges from the void. Its leader is a handsome, black-robed young man, and its banner bears the character “Fang.”
Character developments
- Ye Qiu is quick to recognize the Tower’s strategy, but refuses to play by its schedule. He turns their apparent restraint into an opportunity to loot more cities, showing confidence, resourcefulness, and a taste for provocation.
- Hu Qiming understands the Tower’s plan and cautions Ye Qiu about the scale of the danger. Ye Qiu jokingly casts him as their protection, but Hu Qiming insists he lacks the influence to help.
- The companions initially feel uneasy about consuming the stolen treasures, but eventually join in, reasoning that the extra strength may help them survive the coming battle. Brother Snake and Chen Jianyi also awaken and share dragon meat.
- The Tower manager shows pragmatic self-preservation, choosing not to fight over his meager livelihood. Yet his concealed destruction of a message Jade Slip suggests he may still be reporting or acting under orders.
Significant themes
- Strategic restraint and miscalculation: The Tower’s nonresistance is a calculated trap, but Ye Qiu recognizes the plan and disrupts its timing.
- Escalation and retaliation: Each raid deepens the hostility between Ye Qiu, the Tower, and the Dragon Clan, making an eventual confrontation increasingly unavoidable.
- Power through preparation: The group treats stolen treasures as a way to strengthen themselves before battle, turning reckless consumption into a practical survival strategy.

- Ye Qiu teases Hu Qiming about carrying enough influence to protect them; Hu Qiming responds with anxious reluctance.
