The surviving commando soldiers watched helplessly as their commander disappeared behind the diamond-shaped portal of light. For a moment, they were at a loss.
"Company commander, what should we do now?"
"Um, should we follow him?"
They all felt that, as ordinary soldiers, it was their duty to follow and protect their commanding officer. But this was clearly some kind of mystical operation performed by a group of high-ranking psions. It looked both arcane and impressive, and a bunch of ordinary people like them didn't even understand what was happening. What could they possibly do to help?
Just then, with a pew, the diamond-shaped portal of light vanished on the spot.
...Well, the soldiers couldn't help worrying about the commander's safety, but at least they no longer had to agonize over a difficult choice.
Then Major Dachi spoke up, looking as though he'd safely figured out the commander's orders. Pointing ahead, he shouted, "His Excellency has reached the enemy headquarters and pinned down their leader! The road to the depths of the Serpent's Den is now open to us!" Major Dachi pointed down the passage.
It was spacious and bright, with a clear view—and no enemies left to block their way.
"Should we still send the drones ahead to scout, then have me take the scouts in second wave? You can call the rest of the company back and send them in third?" the reconnaissance sergeant major asked.
"What do you take us for? We're the Commonwealth's First Marine Division, the legendary Tiger Guard! Report to Brigade Commander Zuo at once and have him bring the tanks over."
"..."
"Uh, fine, bring the tanks over. We should at least have the WZ30 walking self-propelled guns!"
Major Dachi and his comrades didn't have to wait long. Three minutes later, the soldiers
