But fortunately, their obsequious, groveling act had at least done some good. After pondering for several minutes, Yu Lian actually climbed back onto the Thunderbeast's head and fell into deep thought.
"So, is this a dream, or a high-level illusion invading my mind?" he murmured.
An invasion? Who was invading whom, exactly? The two Charlies might have been thinking that, but they both kept their heads bowed and their eyes downcast. Charlie A even forced another ingratiating smile and grinned. "We're bound to run into something like this sooner or later."
"There's a saying that people who dream never realize they're dreaming. But psionicists are different. A competent psionicist is nothing like a psionic gorilla who abuses their power."
The two Charlies quickly adopted attentive expressions. He might have seemed to be talking to himself, but that didn't stop them from being good students.
"A competent psionicist has to learn to sense dreams, understand dreams, and control dreams. That's how you build a defense in the realm of the soul. Only then can you demonstrate the basic skills needed for psychic offense and defense. At that point, even the most sophisticated illusion will be powerless against you."
Charlie A paused, then began to ponder as well. "That's a completely new theory."
After thinking it over for a moment, Charlie B suddenly seemed to understand. "I've never heard this theory before, but it makes so much sense!"
"Of course it does. This is a true teaching from my school. I've only recently started studying a lot of the theoretical knowledge in mysticism, so I've been able to draw connections and arrive at these insights!" Yu Lian laughed, looking thoroughly pleased with himself.
In any case, Yu Lian was beginning to feel more and more that it was wonderful when an unorthodox
