Yu Lian's fleet marched with such swagger that it seemed not to notice the pursuers behind them at all. They sailed away from the Emerald Feather System in a formation full of openings. Maintaining that same marching pattern, they rendezvoused with the rest of the fleet at the border of the Republic of Barkwell, then slowly entered the Luknar Corridor and headed for Sedd Fortress.
Of course, just as Yu Lian had hoped, his intimidation had done the trick. The Imperial fleet's main force, whose men were apparently no heroes at all, had more than five times their numbers, yet still didn't continue the pursuit.
By then, it was October 25, 833 of the Commonwealth Calendar.
At last, everyone had confirmed that during the battle at Emerald Feather Fortress, an embarrassing, low-probability incident had indeed taken place aboard the Natural Crest.
"So General Haigber was executed by cannon fire just like that?" When he received the news, Yu Lian was eating river crabs sent over from New Shenzhou with some dried sweet potato. Suddenly, even the satisfyingly chewy crab meat didn't taste so good.
"Yes. Congratulations. Although you didn't set the record for the longest artillery strike in galactic history, you've certainly set a new record for its results." Even the usually composed Rozes couldn't hide his excitement.
In fact, when he received the battle report, he'd checked it three times before deciding to come report it.
"This is the second Imperial Space Fleet admiral to die at your hands. Since the Commonwealth's independence—no, since humanity first entered space—no one has accomplished anything so glorious."
"You can't overlook Commander Yang on the New Continent. His list of victories includes a Grand Elector and an Imperial Marshal. Haven't you heard that two admirals don't add up to one marshal?"
The joke
