Kreil had been shouting along with the crowd for a full three minutes before he realized something seemed off. He hurriedly covered his face and slipped away to one side.
To be fair, he really had wanted to shout from the bottom of his heart.
Who could have imagined that a riot in Ice Valley City would become a fuse? In just the past six months, riots had broken out all over the Alliance again and again. The free beacon of this galactic civilization seemed to have been set atop an active volcano on the verge of eruption overnight. Everyone felt the torment of unease and instability.
Yet as someone who had once been a laborer himself, Kreil understood the people's demands very well. They were citizens of the most prosperous and powerful republic in the universe, and yet their wages and benefits couldn't compare to those of factory workers in the Commonwealth's New World colonies across the way. It was asking too much of ordinary people to believe that Earth needed military aid.
Kreil also knew that improving workers' conditions required close cooperation between major corporations and all branches of government. It involved countless complicated matters and struggles, and would consume enormous administrative resources.
But the Commonwealth across the way, facing the Empire's invasion, really did need the Alliance's help. Helping them was also a way of defending the Alliance's values and political ideals!
The ordinary Alliance workers raising their voices here and the Earth soldiers fighting desperately across the way shouldn't have been at odds in the first place.
Kreil Belmont realized he really wasn't very good at thinking through these issues. If it were that haughty girl Yani, or his friend fighting over in Sedd, they'd surely be able to offer some insightful analysis right about now.
