Blasphemy? That was an angle Yu Lian hadn't even considered.
Then he heard Admiral Sylvester continue, "My friend, you understand this perfectly well. Even though we've won a seat on the Galactic Civilization Council, even though we're at war with the Galactic Empire, even though we've won victory after victory, in far too many people's hearts, the Emperor is the one and only true god."
"Indeed. The bigwigs of the Co-Prosperity Party are like that, and the ruling Friendship Party is no different," Yu Lian agreed.
"Isn't the People's Choice Party, which calls itself patriotic, just the same? They claim to be the most devoted patriots and the purest Earth supremacists, constantly going on about some clean, blue world. But however you look at it, they're just fawning over the Emperor and the Dragon Kings," Fifi added.
That was far too blunt. Yu Lian thought the bigwigs of the People's Choice Party would be in tears. They'd always thought highly of Fifi. They'd even tried to recruit her during the Navy Day celebrations. By the time she won the Yagemi Prize, the domestic media had practically hailed her as "the Light of Earth."
Come to think of it, Brunhild also had the nickname "Light of the Celestial Realm." Amida wasn't a light right now, but in another timeline, after becoming president, plenty of people had called her the Radiant Goddess of Freedom.
Come to think of it, the universe was vast, but there sure were a lot of lights.
On reflection, only the youngest of the four major parties in the Commonwealth Congress—the Pioneer Party—seemed to have any backbone. Yu Lian puffed out his chest and decided to bask in his pride for a few more minutes.
Fifi continued, "Perhaps only the ordinary soldiers have the firmest resolve to resist?"
