The source waves from Great Freedom City essentially served to help pirates and smuggling ships of every kind pinpoint their location. The managers of the pirate port weren't worried in the least that this might lead the imperial hounds right to them. One of the main reasons the Abyss Nebula was called an abyss was that large fleets simply couldn't pass through it, giving the underworld bosses entrenched in ancient, mysterious fortresses a life of carefree ease.
Now that the Pilgrim had confirmed the source-wave signal, they could begin exploring based on its direction.
The communications officer thought for a moment, then continued his report. "The gravitational constant in this system remains stable. We'll see if we can pick up gravitational-wave communications from any other vessels."
"Go ahead," Yu Lian ordered. "But don't respond casually if you receive anything. Understood? We're uninvited guests."
"Understood!" The communications officer immediately stood at attention and saluted, then went off to work with high morale, as if he'd just received some supreme directive.
He was full of fighting spirit now, but Yu Lian could only hope he wouldn't work so hard that he ended up fooling himself. Honestly, Yu Lian himself didn't have much confidence in this.
He knew full well that the gravitational constant was stable, but it was so stable that it seemed unnatural.
If the instruments on board hadn't kept warning them that cosmic radiation levels were dangerously high, and the temperature inside the ship weren't at least seven or eight degrees higher than usual, everyone might have thought they were simply making an ordinary cargo run.
There was no helping it. They were playing hide-and-seek in the Abyss Nebula, so they had to conserve energy. They couldn't run the life-support systems and temperature regulation at full capacity. What's more, Yu
