They were, of course, a great swarm of silvery-gray spherical robots. Round and gleaming, they had one especially prominent quality: they looked utterly harmless. But Yu Lian now knew that these models were made entirely of special fluids that exceeded the limits of modern materials science, along with cell-level nanomachines. Like Little Gray, they could cosplay seamlessly. In that case, their spherical shape was actually the best for adapting to all kinds of battlefields—and for suddenly transforming.
Of course, it was also ideal for moonlighting as a childcare robot.
Provided the childcare robots didn't come rolling over in such overwhelming numbers.
Yu Lian stared in surprise as the spherical robots rolled toward his feet. There were at least two or three thousand of them, and he had no idea where they had all come from.
The larger ones were about the size of basketballs, just like the batch he'd encountered at the passageway entrance. The smaller ones were roughly the size of tennis balls, but they bounced about with more energy and enthusiasm—and were perhaps even deadlier.
These gleaming, patterned automatic bouncing balls probably looked adorable in small numbers, but with so many of them, they naturally radiated murderous intent.
Sure enough, the mercenaries over there were all looking alarmed. Fortunately, a long flight of stairs still separated them, so at least they didn't flee in a panic on the spot.
As for the Nethian dragonkin from earlier, perhaps because Yu Lian had withdrawn his psionic power, he could finally breathe again. Though he leaned against the wall behind him as if all his bones had been pulled out and could barely stand upright, he still managed a hoarse laugh.
"Heh, heh-heh... I'm alive! I thought I was really going to die..."
Yu Lian couldn't be bothered with the mercenaries.
