Yu Lian slowly opened his eyes, but what met his gaze was no longer the jade-like floor of the Silentium's observation deck, etched with spirit-particle arrays. Instead, it was a magnificent, surging universe of light. Wherever he looked, brilliant halos flowed without end, forming tens of thousands of vast rivers of space.
They surged and wound around one another, forming orderly chains of information.
The information chains combined and dispersed countless times, forming the vast crystalline star chart at the heart of the universe. Thus, an ordered world of information, steeped in logic, came into being.
Of course, he had been here before. The last time he'd obtained access to the Silentium deep within the Abyss Nebula, he'd lingered here for a long while. He'd thought the scenery beautiful, and though there was no one around, the sounds were lovely too. He'd actually been quite fond of this place.
He stretched, clearly feeling the touch of his torso and limbs. His body and senses seemed to have become real, and the world itself seemed to have taken on substance as well.
Does this mean I have an even surer grasp of this world now?
Yu Lian couldn't help putting his hands on his hips and basking in his own cleverness for another half a minute. Then he resumed quietly observing his surroundings.
With his "naked eyes," all he could see, of course, were the clusters of light, the rivers of light, and the vast star chart and universe formed where those rivers converged.
But with his spiritual perception, he could clearly sense that within the tiniest energy particles making up those clusters of light, the most fundamental code—the kind that represented the flow of data—was truly pulsating.
It wasn't a cold, lifeless arrangement of zeroes and ones, nor was it
