Yu Lian stopped and glanced at the wall to his left. His gaze seemed to pierce the hundred layers of armor that made up the door, sweeping across it for a long while before finally drawing back.
He had already lost his connection to Feifei. This development had taken him by surprise.
A deeper spatial crevice? Some kind of perception-blocking technique, like a stone hat? Or had she simply taken refuge in the Void?
Yu Lian quickly came up with several possibilities, but he didn't feel especially worried. Feifei wasn't someone who would easily fall into a trap. If he'd lost contact with her, she must have had her own reasons and a plan of her own.
He had complete confidence in his beloved now, just as she had never wavered in her support and trust in him.
For now, he still had to take care of his own business. Yu Lian drew back his radar-like gaze and fixed his eyes on the alloy door a hundred meters ahead.
They were like two enormous solid rocks made of alloy, slowly completing the final stage of their closure under the guidance of gravity. At the same time, layer after layer of defensive force fields activated inside, emitting a humming energy resonance.
It was still an obstacle thick and sturdy enough to serve as a battleship's armor plating, but before Yu Lian, it likely wouldn't hold out for even three seconds.
Still, he didn't continue forward. Instead, he looked around again.
His power spread outward with his will. A series of clattering metallic scrapes rang out as a large swarm of spider-sized robots slid out of the surrounding ventilation ducts and crashed into a heap of broken parts, their cores still glowing red.
Each was an explosive device packed with high-explosive fuel.
