The bridge fell utterly silent. Everyone couldn't help looking toward their commander.
Yu Lian stared at the order projected on the screen. It bore the seal of the Blue Star Commonwealth's highest government, along with the signatures of the interim prime minister and the chairman of the defense committee.
His face showed no expression. Even his eyes seemed perfectly calm.
He suddenly realized that ever since the Commonwealth's government-in-exile had officially opened for business on Nefi, it had issued no orders at all—apart from officially promoting him to general. They had treated Teacher Yang and Marshal Bonaparte the same way, as though they really intended to remain mascots to the bitter end.
That was all well and good. If the government-in-exile could manage that much, it was already doing a perfectly adequate job. The Nefi government-in-exile had done well, but no one—not even Yu Lian—had expected them to change their stance so inexplicably at such a sensitive time.
They had also never imagined that, just as they were about to reach Heavenly Domain, the last obstacle in their way would be the very government to which they were nominally sworn.
Silence lingered on the bridge. At that moment, even the old bureaucrats, including Captain Nemo, didn't know what expression to wear.
And yet, for the moment, none of them could bring themselves to say, "This is an illegitimate order. We shouldn't respond."
At last, Feifei, whose position was the most unusual, asked, "Are we going to carry it out?"
Yu Lian smiled. "As if."
He clearly heard everyone present let out a huge sigh of relief. Of course, people like the captain realized that sighing with relief was a downright treasonous thing to do, and hurriedly made their faces stiff again.
Feifei naturally smiled in relief. "Thank goodness. You finally
