At the bow of the Silent, a device hidden beneath the curved muzzle of the beam cannon—at first glance, it looked like a headlight—suddenly began to shine with a brilliant light.
It was a golden-red spear of light, far more concentrated and searing than any of the secondary batteries' beams. Like a divine spear of judgment, it pierced the void with pinpoint accuracy and slammed into the giant beast's back, boring through the patch of armor that had just been battered over and over by the secondary batteries and left riddled with holes!
The material structure was forcibly torn apart and broken down. It was as if a high-temperature flame had set dead skin alight. The mountain-thick mechanical armor visibly warped and twisted, then began to melt.
In the blink of an eye, a vast wound appeared before them!
Though this colossal creature wore armor that looked like something from a science-fiction warship, once it was torn open, there were no complicated mechanical structures or energy conduits inside.
Just as everyone had suspected, there was a huge mass of writhing, translucent matter that defied all rational description. It was like dense fog, like turbid slime—or perhaps some indescribable, grotesque flesh. In any case, the mass had a sickly, ominous gray pallor, as if its very existence polluted and profaned this vibrant, living world.
Occasional flashes of light passed beneath the gray haze, like a network of twisted veins. Gloomy purple light pulsed through gaps in the fog, as though the creature were breathing of its own accord, spewing out thick clouds of negative energy from the subdimension—so dense they almost seemed tangible.
"Graaah!"
They could faintly hear the giant beast roar again.
Needless to say, the sound had once more exploded directly in the minds of every living being. But
