It had been a while, but thinking about it carefully, it had only been a couple of months. Even so, Yu Lian truly hadn't expected to run into this Gu'meia girl in the imperial border capital closest to the galactic core.
"Uh, didn't you say the galaxy was so vast that you wanted to go see it, and maybe find a future path for yourself and your people along the way?" Yu Lian asked curiously.
Agnès blushed, though her purple skin made it impossible to tell. "Could you not make it sound so high-minded? I just wanted to see more of the world and travel around a bit, to temper myself."
She paused, then added, "But traveling costs money. I have to get a job."
A job? Yu Lian couldn't help laughing. Then he looked at the other two people present: Mr. Karnovich, a nearly two-meter-tall human of Russian descent, and Mr. Silverbeard, a Talrabi man standing over two meters tall.
Mr. Karnovich was a former mercenary and pioneer who owned his own pioneering company, North Wind. Fifty years later, it would grow into a highly reputable leader in the industry. For now, though, it was just a shell company that had only recently opened its doors.
Mr. Silverbeard was a well-known Talrabi adventurer and archaeologist, as well as a friend of General Marlowe. Of course, half a century later, his descendants would lead the Talrabi rebels, but that wasn't especially important.
These two older men had almost become Yu Lian's teammates in the War God Festival. Circumstances had ultimately prevented it, but Yu Lian had still formed a very good impression of them.
Even without the fondness of someone looking back from the future, they were both genuinely manly, magnanimous men. They looked very reliable.
