The question left everyone at a loss for words, so they could only keep their faces blank. Of course, the only one still smiling was Chief of Staff Ostana. Then again, she never stopped smiling, so her smile could be taken for a blank expression.
"Yes, he was mocking me. I'm almost certain," Brunhild said again, her tone firm. She still didn't lose her temper, and her smile remained elegant and lovely, but everyone on the bridge could feel the oppressive atmosphere.
Ostana shook her head. "Colonel Yu Lian isn't some charlatan with a crystal ball. There's no reason he should know everything. I'd say we actually lost to his noble determination to keep his promise."
Brunhild felt that the remark sounded reasonable, but the more she thought about it, the more something seemed off. She was just about to say something when Ostana continued, "Our sneaky little trick lost to his nobility. Isn't that a good thing? Doesn't it make you feel a little better when you think of it that way?"
Brunhild thought, I might have felt a little better if you'd left off that last sentence. She now knew that it wasn't Yu Lian mocking her. It was clearly the woman in front of her, whose assets were well above average and who also happened to be the chief strategist.
"But the idea to put a tracker on Bephorus during the competition was yours, wasn't it?"
"The trackers were installed on all the dragons. They were originally meant to stop them from getting lost when they were let out to exercise." Ostana blinked her lovely, delicate eyes, looking like a "humble, innocent, and low-key military lackey."
