They had been in the wooden hut for quite some time. Red-faced Mebis and Lu Yin had talked for a long while, and the candle flame on Lu Yin's shoulder was nearing its end.
Lu Yin didn't care. The flowing light kept devouring the time the candle flame burned, time that did not belong in the River of Time. The candle flame was just for show.
But Feng Bo didn't know that, and neither did Red-faced Mebis.
Lu Yin was just waiting for the candle to burn out completely before attacking Feng Bo. Alternatively, he could find a way to get Feng Bo to give him a new candle, letting it continue to burn and devour time so the flowing light could look further back.

"Xuan Qi, you can see the candle flame on your shoulder, right?" Red-faced Mebis asked.
Lu Yin glanced at his shoulder. "I can."
"It's almost burned out. Once it does, your life will be over, too. Aren't you afraid?" Red-faced Mebis asked.
Lu Yin gave a helpless smile. "There's nothing I can do. I can't change it anyway, so I'll let things take their course."
Red-faced Mebis's lips curved upward. "It seems you've spent a long time with Feng Bo. You know the candle can be relit automatically at his whim."
Lu Yin blinked. Was there really such a thing?
Looking at Red-faced Mebis's expression, Lu Yin knew she trusted him even less now.
He
