Red-faced Mebis laughed aloud. "Of course it makes sense. Anyone who can speculate about immortality is at least at the Ancestral Realm. They've cultivated to that level and experienced so much, so they've had plenty of wild ideas. I also think the Mother Tree is a living being at the immortal level, because my Ancestor World is the Mebis Divine Tree."
Lu Yin agreed. "That makes a lot of sense, too."
Red-faced Mebis smiled and shook her head. "There are plenty of things that make sense. When you don't understand something, whatever other people say will sound reasonable. Only by trying to break through yourself can you verify it."
"Actually, most people in this universe who have speculated about immortality are pessimistic. After all, immortality isn't exactly a happy thing. You'd have to watch everyone around you die, and suffer more than anyone else. You might even see your entire species disappear. Can you imagine what it would be like to live forever with nothing but bugs?"
Lu Yin's face twitched. Just imagining it gave him the creeps.
If there were no humans in the universe, only bugs, what would be the point of immortality? He'd be better off dead.
Lu Yin had already recovered, and there was nothing worth lingering for in the Mirage Domain. He wanted to reach the Ancestral Realm, but the time wasn't right yet.
"Senior, let's go."
Red-faced Mebis looked around and sighed. "I've lived here longer than I did on the Second Continent. I've grown attached to this place. I hope the people who come after us won't destroy it."
Lu Yin's heart stirred. "Senior, will we be able to come back after we leave?"
Red-faced Mebis shook her head. "Unless we find all the landmarks, I won't be able to come back either.
