With a one-second reversal, Lu Yin's injuries were completely healed, and the blood-red figure returned to its pose with the sword raised high. Though bewildered, it didn't seem to care. If one slash wasn't enough, it could simply strike again.

But as the blade came down, the figure began to dissolve into points of light, starting from the tip of the sword. The light spread across the entire blood-red blade, then up its arm, until finally the whole figure disappeared.

The blood-red figure looked around in confusion, its gaze eventually settling on Lu Yin's face. They locked eyes, and just before vanishing, the figure raised a finger to its lips.

It seemed to be smiling.

The blood-red figure vanished completely into the Mirage Domain.

Everything around them returned to normal.

The mist drifted slowly, and the River of Time flowed on, as if everything that had happened here had been nothing but an illusion.

Lu Yin hurried over to Red-faced Mebis. "Senior."

Red-faced Mebis lay facedown on the ground, her whole body stained red with blood. Lu Yin quickly helped her up. "Senior."

Red-faced Mebis gave a bitter smile. "Sorry I couldn't help you."

Lu Yin shook his head. "No one could have expected this turn of events."

Red-faced Mebis stared blankly into the sky. "Earlier, when you told us about the Lost Race, I didn't really believe you. How could there be an all-powerful being? Even Master at his peak couldn't have been all-powerful. We disciples could still have put up a fight."

"Now I believe you."

She looked at Lu Yin, her expression more solemn than ever. "We've stirred up a hornet's nest."

Lu Yin felt the same way. "That definitely wasn't Heavenly Punishment."
