Lu Yin made his move. A terrifying force pinned the butterfly against the door. He watched her struggle, his gaze ferocious. "Answer me."
"Lu Yin, you have no future! You're meddling with a taboo! Taichu doesn't dare leave Primordial City, yet you dare meddle with a taboo? You'll die a horrible death! You'll die a horrible death—" The butterfly shrieked. In an instant, she blazed with light, illuminating the entire starry sky, then drew it all back into herself.
Jiang Feng grabbed Lu Yin and pulled him away. "Back! She's going to self-destruct!"
BOOM!
A deafening blast shook the door. The starry sky warped, its distortion spreading like a wave and tearing through the endless darkness to reveal the vast World of Nothingness.
The force of an Origin Realm expert's self-destruction was devastating. Even Jiang Feng was wary, and he dragged Lu Yin back.
Lu Yin stared at the butterfly's charred imprint on the door. She had clearly been terrified of dying and had wanted to live, yet when he pressed her about fate, she had self-destructed. Evidently, in her eyes, fate was more terrifying than death.
Ku Zu must have seen something—something that might expose fate. That was why the butterfly had pursued him.
What, exactly, had Ku Zu seen?
"Go back. I'll keep watch here," Jiang Feng said.
Lu Yin was about to speak when an indescribable dread seized him. He and Jiang Feng paled at the same time and looked toward the door. The universe seemed to be collapsing. They saw the character "Heaven" rise from the spot where the butterfly had died and descend upon them.
The sky was falling.
Like ordinary people, they watched the heavens cave in and the earth collapse, about to be buried beneath it all, sinking into endless despair.
