The two men faced the young man with respectful expressions.
"I didn't watch until the end. Was the battle spectacular?" the young man asked, gazing at the dark city, where only a few scattered lights flickered.
He had used his wealth to make the entire city go dark. He could even have done the same to the whole planet, but the people at the very bottom were the only ones beyond his control. They couldn't even see his instructions. As far as they knew, the city's power system had malfunctioned; the lights hadn't been switched off on purpose.
It was unimaginable.
Old Salamander sighed. "An unparalleled battle. The Nine Heavens Transformation raised them to the level of a Yu Sang Tian. Across the Spiritualized Universe, perhaps only Yu Sang Tian and you could have taken part in that battle."
The young man rested both hands on the railing and looked down at the city. "Light."
At that one word, the city lit up again. Neon lights illuminated countless people walking through the night, and they cheered.
"Darkness."
Once again, the city was plunged into darkness.
For them, destroying this planet would be easy, but destroying a planet and conquering one brought different feelings.
"Is it blinding?" the young man asked.
Meng Sang Tian and Old Salamander looked at the scattered lights in the city, here and there.
"Blinding," Old Salamander replied.
The young man smiled. "When the lights shine bright, no one sees them. Yet only they can sting the eyes of those above them. It's not that they're unwilling to turn off the lights. They simply don't know that turning them off is even an option. They don't know I exist, either."
