Lu Yin descended before Qiu Nan Hong Ye. Liuli, Jian Hong, and the others withdrew, leaving the two of them alone.
Lu Yin studied Qiu Nan Hong Ye. "You're different from Lu Siyu and Ming Xiao Long."
"Everyone is different," Qiu Nan Hong Ye said. "Fourth Sister knows when to hold on and when to let go. Seventh Sister is pure-hearted and lively. I can't compare to either of them."
"What do you want with me?" Lu Yin asked.
Qiu Nan Hong Ye's ears twitched. "First, I want to thank you for not revealing that I was the one who asked you to protect Jian Hong on his way here."
"I won't break the terms of our agreement."
"Even if you did, I would accept the consequences of those terms. I would never make things difficult for you."
If someone else had said such a thing, it would have sounded insincere. After all, the matter was already over, and twelve years had passed. It would have been nothing more than an empty promise made after the fact. Yet, when Qiu Nan Hong Ye said it, it somehow inspired trust—not because it was true, but because it couldn't possibly be false.
There was a subtle but complete difference between something being true and its being impossible to be false.
Lu Yin trusted Qiu Nan Hong Ye. It was simply instinct.
