Lu Yin listened quietly, closing his eyes. In his mind, he saw the abyss devouring one life after another. Their knees had been shattered, yet they crawled toward the people on the other side of the abyss, trying to retrieve the body of the fallen man. Even if their entire civilization was buried, they would fill that abyss.
Too many people had died beneath that abyss. It was a line of death.
Lu Yin clenched his fists. Had humanity ever suffered something like this?
"After they died, something even more terrifying happened." The creature glanced at Lu Yin again and spoke in a trembling voice. "Bones crawled out of their corpses. They crawled out of the abyss, crossed the line of death, and headed toward the fallen man. They danced around him. Even with their knees shattered, they still crawled and danced, singing of death and mocking them."
"They crawled faster and faster, one after another, without hesitation, filling the line of death as they tried to reach the other side and push those bones away. This was death's mockery—a mockery of the fallen man, a mockery of that human civilization. But the more people crawled, the more bones there were. Despair was inflicted upon an entire civilization. So what if they filled the abyss with their whole civilization? Death looked down from on high, its gaze forever full of mockery and amusement. To death, this was just a game, a source of pleasure."
"Don't come into contact with death. Don't come into contact with death."
