Music could never replace language, but it often held a charm that transcended it. The music of this world came from Le Lou Ku Jin. Through its music, this most instinctive expression of self influenced all the bone creatures, until they, in turn, influenced it.
Should he be grateful?
If he had never come here, Lu Yin had no idea how long it would have taken him to truly see this.
No matter how many years it took, as long as he could completely cast off his external constraints, he could take that step and move toward eternal life.
The standard was being able to understand this world's music and create music of his own.
Perhaps the day he created his own music would be the moment the high wall around his state of mind was fully perfected.
In the distance, Fish Bone and Zhou Boss watched Lu Yin.
"Did my bro go stupid?"
"Looks like he figured something out."
"Guess he's convinced."
Zhou Boss walked toward Lu Yin.
Lu Yin turned around and grinned, his skeletal mouth looking rather frightening. "You were right. My music really is awful."
Zhou Boss consoled him. "Don't lose heart. Keep learning, and one day you'll write a song that shakes Le Lou Ku Jin."
"Right, bro, I believe in you. Come on, we've been trying out rhythms all these years. We'll bring you along."
"Okay."
Smack.
Smack.
Tap.
Tap.
Thump.
"Wrong."
"I only tapped once."
"Still wrong."
"It doesn't feel right."
Lu Yin pondered. It was wrong? He had only tapped once. They could even tell from that?
His emotions had been conveyed entirely through sound. This world was far more sensitive than he had imagined.
Fish Bone said, "Again."
Zhou Boss knocked on the broken bones, and Fish Bone slapped his tail.
