That moment came soon enough.
But a year later, Saint Xi came looking for him, his voice icy. "Saint Cang, guess what good news I've brought you? Saint Qian and the others are coming back."
Saint Cang's body trembled. He stared at Saint Xi in shock.
Amusement and scorn gleamed in Saint Xi's eyes as he sized up Saint Cang. "It won't be long now. Once Saint Qian's faction returns, I'll find out what you're hiding. Hmph. When that happens, you won't just be unable to help me—you'll have trouble protecting yourself."
A chill ran through Saint Cang. He lowered his gaze, not daring to meet Saint Xi's eyes.
Saint Xi stared at him, his voice cold and sinister. "This is your last chance. While you're still useful, and before your secret is exposed, help me claim the clan leader's position and promise never to oppose me. Then I'll let you keep your secret. What do you say?"
"This is your last chance."
Saint Cang swallowed, his gaze flickering. The last chance. His last chance?
"Looks like you still haven't decided to give up." With that, he turned to leave.
Saint Cang looked up. "Wait."
Saint Xi's lips curled as he turned around and looked at Saint Cang mockingly.
Saint Cang's eyes narrowed. "Are Saint Qian and the others really coming back?"
Saint Xi laughed loudly. "You really won't give up, will you? Fine, listen carefully."
"Jia Realm."
Saint Cang's pupils contracted. Saint Qing had taken Saint Qian's faction to the Jia Realm.
"I've already found them in the Jia Realm. I'm just waiting to confirm their whereabouts, and then I can bring them back soon. Do you think there's anything you can do?" Saint Xi asked with interest.
Saint Cang was completely helpless. He knew he was finished.
