Fate did not reveal that Death God had betrayed Lu Yin or that Lord Mi had moved against him. If she did, Xiang City would fall apart.
She knew Lu Yin was unlikely to survive. In the future, if Lord Mi succeeded, he would inevitably take control of Xiang City. Even the Progenitor could not stop him. So the worst thing they could do now was turn the people of Xiang City against Lord Mi.
Whatever Lord Mi's motives were,
the only one besides himself who would ultimately benefit was all of Human Civilization.
The one they had wronged most, of course, was Lu Yin.
The Progenitor spoke with everyone for a long time. Eventually, they all left, leaving only Fate and Death God.
"Tell me. What are you hiding? I know you two too well."
Fate raised her eyes and looked at Death God.
Death God was as calm as still water, as if nothing had happened.
The Progenitor looked at Death God too. "Chu Heizi, you tell me."
Death God still said nothing.
Fate sneered. "What, can't bring yourself to say it? Or are you afraid to? Worried your master will purge the traitor from his ranks?"
Death God looked at the Progenitor. "I helped Lord Mi ambush Lu Yin."
The words made the Progenitor's expression change drastically. His mind roared. It hit him harder than facing the Four Great Masters ever had.
He could hardly believe what he'd heard. "What did you say?"
Death God remained terrifyingly calm. "I helped Lord Mi ambush Lu Yin."
The Progenitor stared blankly at Death God, as if he were seeing him for the first time.
Fate clenched her fists, barely restraining herself from beating him again.
The calmer Death God was, the angrier she became.
"Why?" The Progenitor couldn't understand.
