After waiting a while and seeing that no one answered, the guide, who was in charge of the entire room, finally spoke. "Looks like that's everyone. I'm in charge of this room. There's a cord beside each of your beds. Pull it, and I'll know you need help."
"Usually, I'll be the one who comes, though someone else might come instead. Someone will always be here to handle things, so don't worry. Pull it if you need something, but don't pull it otherwise. Also—"
"No fighting. If you want the mage lords to beat you, go ahead and try."
"The rules are simple. Just follow the church's rules."
"Stealing, threatening others, ostracizing people, and the like will be punished according to the church's rules. This isn't the countryside; the rules are strictly enforced here, so think carefully before you act."
"These are the most basic rules, and the rules all followers of the Goddess must obey. I don't think that's too hard, is it?"
Once the guide finished speaking, the vaccination staff carried a box to the center of the room and set it down. Several people followed behind her.
They were wearing protective suits too.
The uniforms were all military green. They wore gas masks, with tubes running straight into bags at their waists. This was now the standard look for their personnel.
After the guide finished, the vaccination staff continued, "Everyone, with this round of vaccinations, six out of every ten people may become infected, and perhaps only two people will develop immunity without any adverse reactions."
"Prepare yourselves mentally to endure the illness again. If there are no objections, we'll begin the vaccinations now."
"The people in this room are here to simulate the diet of ordinary civilians."
"For breakfast, you'll have black bread and mushroom soup."
