The Northern Defense Treaty's massive project affected everyone.
In a city like Kasaen City,
people at the bottom of society experienced the upheaval firsthand.
Huan's older sister, Ami,
showed everyone the proper way for a Qi Warrior to work the fields.
In the past, people farmed using whatever tools they had, or, in better circumstances, a plow horse.
But a plow horse could only pull a single plow. It simply pulled it faster.
There had been no improvement in the tools.
All that productive capacity had gone to waste.
Ami pulled the plow and ran with all her might. The enormous plow dragged behind her, a Xilian Group-style plow, carving four deep furrows wherever it passed.
And for Ami, it also counted as a workout.
Running with a load.
With Battle Qi bolstering her, Ami looked as if she were running normally.
"Whoa, that's incredible!"
"Yeah, look at her efficiency. She's cultivated so much land in just ten minutes."
"But after running like that for ten minutes, she probably has to rest for an hour, right?"
"Even so, those ten minutes are worth a whole day of your work."
For the next three days, everyone worked on cultivating the land.
Backbreaking labor.
The third day.
It was time to build the aqueduct.
Countless laborers carried the stone bricks produced by the quarrying teams over to the mages.
Those mages didn't need scaffolding at all. They simply lifted the bricks high into the air and assembled them into an overhead aqueduct.
Rick carried stones alongside his three friends.
The workers all watched the mages at work.
The aqueduct would irrigate the surrounding fields and supply drinking water to the city.
Working below, Rick was deeply impressed by the mages' efficiency.
It was terrifyingly efficient.
The bricks floated into the air
