Yuffie's funding had been cut off before, but now she had the support of the southern nobles, so she'd brought the craftsmen south to set up a Firearms Factory.

A few firearms imitated those of the North, but most were still Muzzleloaders.

The Dwarves first picked up one of the most advanced guns to examine it.
It was a near-perfect copy of a northern firearm. There were very few of them, and they came in two models.
"Brilliant, Your Highness! So this is another way to do it!" A Dwarf examining the gun suddenly cried out in shock. "This really could increase production!"
"Seems like we all had similar ideas!"
"What's up with you, little sledgehammer?" A Dwarf called out to his companion, who was shouting excitedly to himself, using a nickname.
"Look, this gun barrel doesn't have the so-called rifling from the North. It's basically a breech-loading Bullet Casing Smoothbore Gun, and each round contains several pellets."
"Similar ideas?" Yuffie looked a little confused, but soon understood. "You mean the Dwarves are taking the Smoothbore Gun route too?"
The hardest part of making rifling was actually producing seamless steel pipes. The next hardest was cutting the rifling, which greatly slowed production.
The other challenge was the primer technology for the ammunition.
But the barrel itself was harder still.
There were several ways to make a primer for ammunition. There were plenty of magical materials, and even more substances that could generate heat on their own. At worst, they could use expensive Magic Runes.
