That afternoon, after a delicious lunch,
an infantry division began its attack.

They were of average quality.
Facing the bunkers built by the enemy, they chose to take them out one by one.
If the enemy could use magic to build bunkers, Olesian troops could use magic to build sniper platforms, too.
Since this was a plain, even ten meters was quite a height.
Once the ten-meter platform was ready, twelve 75 mm guns were wheeled up and began taking precise shots at the enemy.
"Aim for the cannons in their bunkers!"
"Reporting: target acquired!"
"Good. Load one high-explosive shell. Fire!"
From atop the platform, the twelve 75 mm guns began firing at the bunkers.
After repeated adjustments, the 75 mm high-explosive shells struck the bunkers and destroyed the cannons inside.
With the cannons destroyed, all that remained was to find the machine guns. But the enemy had hidden them, so that was that.
The infantry could begin its advance.
An infantry battalion began its assault. The hundred men at the front carried assault rifles loaded with Intermediate power bullets, while the rest carried semi-automatic rifles.
They had all been temporarily assigned to the unit.
They were there specifically for these spearhead troops.
Just as the troops were about to draw near, gunfire suddenly erupted.
The enemy commander leading the defense was a vampire, and he had his men putting up successive lines of resistance here.
The idea was to keep delaying them.
Wait until they came closer to open fire and inflict casualties.
The soldiers who suddenly appeared began shooting. Their aim was terrible, but at least they knew how to fire.
Together with the shotguns, they inflicted quite a few casualties on the advancing spearhead troops in an instant.
