Black waters flowed down from snow-capped mountains, while a vast, primordial forest seemed to tell any conqueror that this was a precious frontier land yet to be tamed.
There was no nomadic life here, nor was there farming. Only Fishing and Hunting offered a way to survive.
Unfortunately, this place was also inhabited by many races. Orcs were the main theme here; only thick-skinned fellows like them could endure the winters.
Even Goblins, despised by all races, with a breeding capacity like the insectoid swarms of science-fiction novels and known as the cockroaches of intelligent creatures, could not hide from the winter cold in caves.
Only thick-skinned Orcs and Demi-humans could survive the harsh winter through their racial talents.
If humans wanted to make it through winter, they could only rely on wisdom: keeping warm, building heated houses, and growing food.
Fortunately, it was summer now. Humans could withstand the weather just fine with two or three layers of clothing.
"Lord Lynn, we've arrived." Eckley knocked on the carriage door.
Lynn, who had been lounging like Ge You, immediately sat up.
Lynn stepped out of the carriage, with Lilim following behind him.
Lynn looked around. The environment was decent enough. The abundant forests would provide enough to get through winter, and the black soil was rich.
It was already past planting season, though, so food was a major problem. Still, it did not matter—he had the meat of more than thirty Minotaurs!
"Lord Lynn, what should we do now?" Eckley was only a Knight and could not make such decisions.
After all, although they had been exiled, they were nominally still pioneers. They naturally needed to develop the territory, or they would not even have a place to live, and no amount of money could be spent.
Lynn ordered, "Chef, hurry up and deal with the beef."
"Soldiers and Knights, maintain order. Slaves, come over and line up!"
Lilim moved closer to Lynn and whispered, "Host, what are you doing?"
"Lilim, don't just stand around either. We left in too much of a hurry before, so we never had time for Registration." Lynn took a quill from the carriage and placed it in Lilim's hand, then took out some paper. "I'll make you a table. Start registering their names, identities, genders, and slave status. Have them leave fingerprints too."
Lilim blankly accepted everything. "That changed way too fast!"
Where did my host, who went on and on about Two-dimensional stuff all day, go?
Though I still have no idea what Two-dimensional even means.
I'm being used as cheap labor!
Lilim was depressed for a while, but she still obediently began the Registration.
Using magic and Battle Qi, Lynn found it quite easy to fell trees. Making them into a table was easy too, since there was no need for any extra work.
"Come on, Lilim. Sit here." Lynn quickly finished making the table and chair. Next came the wait for the Registration to be completed.
Because his mindset had already shifted to National Ideology, Lynn briefly entered a mode of thinking devoid of any morality or selfish motives.
Meat was expensive. Once the meat from the thirty-odd Minotaurs had been processed, he could take it to town to sell, then buy large quantities of wheat and a new batch of slaves to increase the population.
If they ate Minotaur meat, it might make people uncomfortable and lower his stability. It also would not maximize profits.
Efficiency was everything!
Though it could not be made into canned food, selling it as smoked meat would still be excellent.
Lynn worked very efficiently and had basically planned everything out.
Though he was in reality now, it was as though he possessed a God's-eye view, carrying out extreme micromanagement.
One soldier acted as a manager for dozens of slaves, while the Registration ensured that no single slave would end up being managed by three different people at once.
"Chef, process these cow organs and make food for them with this hard Black bread."
"Groups 1 and 2, go chop trees. Use saws if you have them. Those without saws, gather the felled trees together. Group 3, cut the logs. Those without tools, carry the cut logs over to Groups 4 and 5. Groups 4 and 5, build the houses. Groups 6, 7, and 8, bring over stones!"
The productivity of Slavery was so low. It was ridiculous.
Lynn now felt as though his faction was burdened by severe negative modifiers.
Although there was no system panel, he felt as though there was one.
