Of the 500,000 troops they had, 100,000 couldn't be moved, and another 50,000 were at the front and couldn't be moved either. They were the Imperial Guard.
Of the remaining 350,000, they had already dispatched 50,000: 30,000 heading north and 20,000 heading west toward Melbury.
But they had only 100,000 guns, scattered among their various units. The rest were armed with Cold Weapons: swords and spears.
That was all well and good in a siege, but what were they supposed to do in a field battle?
Especially when the enemy was so obviously surrounding them!
As the defenders, they knew all too well how powerful Heat Weapons were on defense.
Only when defending could artillery and machine guns show their true might!
They had just finished adjusting their military deployments, but they were still discussing the situation.

"But now, going to Holy Sword Mountain is completely out of the question, and our southern route is surrounded too."
