Anfield was a stadium with a history of more than a century. Construction began in 1878 and was completed in 1884. Located in the Anfield district of Liverpool, Merseyside, England, it was a four-star stadium certified by UEFA.

It enjoyed an excellent location and highly convenient transportation. The stadium was 1.8 kilometers from Kirkdale Railway Station, 6.4 kilometers from the M57-J6 coach station, and 13.3 kilometers from John Lennon Airport.

The atmosphere inside the stadium had always been widely praised. No matter the occasion, Anfield fans were always singing, with Liverpool's classic anthem, "You'll Never Walk Alone," being heard most often.

Ever since Liverpool Football Club was founded in 1892, Anfield had been its home ground. However, many fans might not have known that its former owner had been Liverpool's bitter city rivals, Everton. Before 1892, the story behind that was rather complicated and melodramatic, so there was no need to go into it.

Anfield had a total of 54,074 seats, ranking fifth in capacity across the Premier League.

Its highest recorded attendance was 61,905, set on February 2, 1952, during an FA Cup fourth-round match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The chances of expanding the stadium again were slim, as its expansion proposal would be difficult to get approved by the city council.

Originally, Liverpool had begun building a new home stadium in Stanley Park near Anfield, with an initial planned capacity of 60,000. However, the project ran into funding difficulties and had to be abandoned.

In October 2012, Liverpool officially confirmed that it had scrapped its relocation plans and would invest 260 million pounds to expand the stadium.

After the expansion, Anfield would have around 60,000 seats. Several new roads would also be built outside the stadium, along with new residential areas, shopping centers, public squares, office buildings, and hotels.
