Hachinosu had once been the base of the legendary pirate Rocks. After the Rocks Pirates disbanded, the island fell under the control of the traitor Ochoku.
In the original timeline, Blackbeard had seized Hachinosu with his crew after gaining the power of the Tremor-Tremor Fruit, killing Ochoku and avenging his father, Rocks.
Now Blackbeard had died in the Summit War, but Ochoku had still met his end.
Pursued by Admirals Kizaru and Fujitora, Fugaku Uchiha and the Akatsuki had fled all the way to the New World, the second half of the Grand Line.
As they passed Hachinosu, Ochoku, who had close ties to the Navy, took the chance to ambush Fugaku and the others.
