Chapter Summaries

Uchiha Yoru told Jiraiya that his former student Nagato led the Akatsuki as Pain and brought him and three Uchiha allies to Amegakure. They stormed the village, where Yoru’s Conqueror’s Haki knocked out nearly all the ninja who confronted them.

• Yoru found Jiraiya gathering material near a hot spring and asked him to come to Amegakure to face the Akatsuki.
• Yoru revealed that Nagato had survived the battle that killed Yahiko and now operated Yahiko’s corpse as Pain, leaving Jiraiya shocked and guilt-stricken.
• Jiraiya resolved to find and persuade Nagato, and Yoru, Fugaku, Shisui, and Itachi joined him.
• Two days later, the five approached Amegakure openly, and Yoru explained that the village’s rain technique had already detected them.
• Yoru smashed through Amegakure’s steel gates, and his Conqueror’s Haki overwhelmed the defenders, knocking nearly all of them unconscious.

Jiraiya and the Uchihas confronted Nagato in Amegakure, where Pain rejected Jiraiya’s plea to stop and assembled the Six Paths. As Jiraiya began entering Sage Mode, Itachi held off the Paths with Susanoo and burned Preta Path with the Yata Garasu Fruit’s white flame.

• Jiraiya and the others entered the silent Amegakure and encountered Deva Path Pain, who revealed himself as Nagato’s proxy using Yahiko’s body.
• Jiraiya urged Nagato to turn back, but Pain defended his plan to make the world experience pain and summoned the other five Paths.

• The Deva Path used Shinra Tensei to crack Itachi’s Susanoo and drive him back, while the Naraka Path revived the charred Preta Path through the King of Hell.
• Fukasaku and Shima helped Jiraiya finish gathering natural energy, and Jiraiya entered Sage Mode.
• Jiraiya told Itachi he would take over and challenged Nagato to stop, but the Deva Path questioned whether Sage Mode could change a world full of suffering.

• Fukasaku and Sage Shima disrupted Deva Path Pain long enough for Jiraiya to strike his collarbone, but Pain blasted him away and ended his Sage Mode.

• Obito and Black Zetsu entered Amegakure and found the village damaged and deserted after a battle.
• Obito and Black Zetsu reached Nagato’s chamber, where Uchiha Yoru, Jiraiya, and three Uchiha stood with Nagato and Konan.
• Pain Deva Path questioned Black Zetsu about his claim that Nagato’s Rinnegan belonged to Madara Uchiha.

• Yoru told Inabi to choose his opponent by following his emotions, while Inabi watched Tanjiro defeat Enmu’s dream-created body.
• Inabi burned away the flesh tentacles attacking their carriage, and Tanjiro asked the three strangers to protect its passengers before rushing toward Enmu’s real body.
• Tanjiro and his companions killed Lower Rank One Enmu, but Enmu’s final attack engulfed the train in flesh until Kyojuro cleared it with Flame Breathing, Ninth Form—Rengoku.

• Yoru apologized for Inabi’s behavior and agreed that he, Inabi, and Itachi would temporarily join the Demon Slayer Corps as Hashira.

• Nakime secretly remained under Itachi’s control as Yoru’s hidden means of accessing Infinity Castle, and the Uchiha group left the Entertainment District.

Uchiha Yoru stopped Sanemi Shinazugawa from attacking Tamayo and secured Kagaya Ubuyashiki’s approval to take his clansmen and Tanjiro to Swordsmith Village as bait for Upper Rank Demons. Meanwhile, Nakime located the village, and Muzan sent Hantengu and Gyokko to destroy it.

• Sanemi Shinazugawa attacked Tamayo at headquarters, but Uchiha Yoru caught his sword between two fingers and broke it.

• Uchiha Yoru, Itachi, Inabi, Tanjiro Kamado, and Sanemi Shinazugawa entered Swordsmith Village under strict secrecy precautions, where Sanemi argued with his swordsmith Tetsuya about his broken sword.
