Looking at the enormous bird, Shen Hanyu's clever little mind turned slightly, and he recognized this kind of Soul Beast.
The Calamity Snow Crow, covered in black-and-white feathers, might have "calamity" in its name, but it actually possessed no such attribute.
It had likely earned that name because it excelled at stealing, robbing, kidnapping, and swindling. Its favorite pastime was probably bullying the weak and ambushing the blood of powerful yet exceedingly rare Soul Beasts. It had caused no small amount of trouble in the Far North. Of all her enemies, Snow Empress had chosen this unlucky creature, likely because it had once drained the blood of a Ten-Thousand-Year Ice Jade King Scorpion, provoking the Ice Scorpion clan into an uproar and nearly triggering a war between races.
Now that Snow Empress had caught it, it was getting what it deserved.
Still, seeing its enormous size, Shen Hanyu could not help admiring the fellow. Surrounded by so many giants, it had stubbornly endured until its cultivation reached the Hundred-Thousand-Year level, only to have Snow Empress end its glorious life before it could enjoy that status for even two days.
Shui Ningbing respectfully thanked Snow Empress. For Shen Hanyu's sake, Snow Empress still gave a slight nod. To be honest, she was somewhat resistant toward humans other than Shen Hanyu. At least for now.
Then Shui Ningbing excitedly approached the Calamity Snow Crow. A magnificent feather pierced straight through its heart, and a Red Soul Ring slowly rose up.
Shui Ningbing froze on the spot, swallowing unconsciously as her gaze instinctively turned toward Shen Hanyu.
Shen Hanyu said softly:
"Don't worry, Aunt Shui. I'll help you when it matters."
Only then did Shui Ningbing settle down. She sat cross-legged on the ground and slowly drew the Red Soul Ring toward herself.
