"What do you want me to stay for?" Taylor glanced at Ryan nearby, pretending to be confused as guilt began to creep over her.
"I want you to stay and have a couple more drinks with me," Abigail said with a smile.
"Ugh, you're so annoying. I have to get up early tomorrow to do my makeup and get ready for an interview." Taylor sounded reluctant, but her heart had finally stopped pounding.
Abigail then went over to Ryan and said something similar to him. In the end, she told her family to head home too.
Only the three of them remained in the rented venue. Ryan realized something was off and hurriedly tried to signal Taylor, but she didn't get the hint.
Abigail casually picked up the half-empty bottle of red wine from the table, poured some into a wineglass, then handed it to Taylor.
Taylor reached out to take it, but Abigail splashed the wine in her face. The next second, Abigail had tackled her to the floor, yanking her hair with one hand and tearing at her clothes with the other as she straddled her and beat her.
Luckily, Ryan was strong enough to restrain them both, one in each hand. Otherwise, Taylor would have been in serious trouble today.
Still furious, Abigail unleashed a string of insults, and Taylor fired right back.
They traded insults for several minutes, but neither of them was particularly good at it, and soon they were arguing instead.
Then they started dredging up old grievances. Taylor accused Abigail of once flirting with an upperclassman who had been getting close to her, while Abigail accused Taylor of stealing her thunder at a school event. They were about to go all the way back to when they'd first met when Ryan cut them
