The kitchen sink was full of seafood, meat simmered on the stove, and the oven below was running too. Ryan could handle it all with ease on his own, but someone had to come bother him.

"Ryan, do you need any help?" Trey walked into the kitchen and called out in a loud voice.

Ryan turned around, about to send her back out, when he saw Trey put a finger to her lips, signaling him to be quiet.

"Abigail just asked me about you and Taylor. You'd better figure out what to do," Trey whispered urgently. As she spoke, she kept glancing toward the doorway, afraid Abigail might suddenly come barging in.

"You know you're about to be done for, right? I knew this day would come!" Trey looked even more nervous than Ryan.

"This isn't going to cause you trouble, is it?" she muttered.

Faced with a table laden with all kinds of dishes, Abigail immediately dug in.

"Why aren't you eating?" Abigail asked Ryan.

"There's something I need to tell you." Ryan's tone had changed from his earlier casual manner.

He then told her about Big Machine's boss and the "relationship reveal plan" Scott had mentioned.

When Abigail heard, she immediately lowered her head and focused on her food, looking a little glum.

Trey gave Ryan a meaningful glance before lowering her head too. She was trying not to laugh.

Abigail slammed the metal fork in her hand down on the table and abruptly raised her head. "She really hasn't given up!"

"She must have come up with this plan with Scott. Is she trying to force me to leave on my own? I haven't even gone to Kansas yet!" Her breathing grew rapid, and she looked extremely agitated.
