Yu Lin's Odd Hobby, Special Favor

Zeng Mo yawned, looking somewhat bored. He picked up his phone, filmed a short video, then sent it to Yu Lin.

There was no reply.

"Is she still asleep?"

"Probably. She's been staying up late lately and has gotten pretty lazy. She sleeps all day, then gets up in the evening and wanders around in a daze. If she doesn't get her routine back on track, she'll end up like a night owl."

Zeng Mo muttered to himself, then yawned again.

"Right, I should sleep a bit too."

"Once Xiao Yue wakes up and comes back, I'll have some energy. Then I can talk with her properly and figure out how to turn her into a shelter."

He closed his eyes and soon fell asleep.

Half an hour later.

Yu Lin woke up. She picked up her phone, sent Zeng Mo a message, and said, "Good morning, hubby."

Then she opened the video Zeng Mo had sent her.

The very next moment.

She was stunned by the dramatic effect of the edited video.

She rushed into the next room without a moment's hesitation and called out to the shadow who was also watching television: "Shadow, hurry and watch the video your hubby edited. It looks just like a movie trailer."

"Ah, it's almost done. I'm just adding some finishing touches." Shadow put the beautiful video on her phone in front of Yu Lin.

In an instant.

Yu Lin was captivated by the video's visuals and special effects.

"Is this the little video I filmed yesterday? Did Zeng Mo edit it today?"

"Mm-hmm." Shadow was busy editing and barely had time to answer.

"He's so amazing. His editing skills are incredible..."

"Yeah, I always knew my hubby was talented. With just a short video, he can make my own media account take off."

"Aw, he even sent me the original video. I'll go to the bathroom and take a look at the special effects he added. I'll know how it turned out tomorrow morning."

"Okay."

Yu Lin hurried off to show Shadow, then was about to share the video with Zeng Mo.

But Shadow immediately stopped her. "Miss, don't wear that. If Zeng Mo has someone else with him, won't I be exposed?"

"Aw..."

Yu Lin stuck out her tongue and slipped back to her room.

What a clever little one.

Zeng Mo was sleeping soundly when his phone suddenly rang.

He glanced at the screen. When he saw it was a video call from Yu Lin, he answered, and her voice came through right away.

"Hubby, I watched your video. It was so good. I'm sure it'll attract lots of views and followers. Huh? It's all black, hubby. Where are you?"

"I'm sleeping."

Zeng Mo's voice came through the speaker. He reached over and turned on the bedside lamp before picking up his phone. His face appeared on the screen.

Yu Lin watched Zeng Mo sit up and lean against the headboard. She thought to herself, Hubby's been busy making videos all day. He must be tired. I shouldn't bother him. I'll let him sleep a little longer, then talk to him when he wakes up.

"No need. We can talk for a while. I'll naturally wake up later," Zeng Mo said.

"Mm, hubby's the best. You made a video for me, and I'm sure it'll attract lots of views and followers. When the time comes... If the response isn't good, I'll recruit a few more helpers to help me shoot a series of videos, then put out an announcement and start livestreaming..."

After chatting for half an hour about her grand plans, Yu Lin heard a knock at the door. Zeng Mo had just shut his eyes, intending to sleep a little longer, when the door opened.

The guest room lit up, too.

"They're back."

Zeng Mo immediately sat up and walked out of the bedroom.

Sure enough, Xiao Yue and Xiao Die had returned.

They were carrying bags and wearing new clothes.

Xiao Yue wore a white V-neck shirt under a black women's suit jacket that reached her knees. A short black skirt showed off her long, shapely legs. She looked as if she were dressed for a job interview.

Xiao Die's outfit was much more revealing. She wore a white crop top that hugged her figure and exposed her waist, paired with distressed denim shorts. The rips revealed the smooth, slender legs beneath.

As Zeng Mo looked over their outfits, Xiao Yue and Xiao Die greeted him in unison.

"Master."

"Oh, you're back. You've been gone for a while," Zeng Mo said.

Xiao Yue swung the white shopping bag in her hand. "I saw that you've been working hard lately, so Xiao Die and I went to buy you some meat. We don't know if you'll like it."

"Xiao Yue is thoughtful."

Zeng Mo smiled and took the bag, placing it on the guest room table. He opened it and saw a platter of beef, some pork belly, and a large bowl of sea cucumber soup.

Xiao Die also set her shopping bag on the table and took out the food inside. It was a large box of roasted chicken wings, each piece big and plump.

Zeng Mo's appetite stirred. He picked up his chopsticks and took a bite, then asked, "What do you plan to do with that place? How will you turn it into a shelter?"

"Master, that place is remote, but there's a reservoir nearby and a water supply plant beside it. If we can survive a year, we can take over the water supply plant and make it our own."

Xiao Yue answered at once.

"There's also an animal park near the shelter. It's quite large, and the animals are pretty valuable. If we clear out the zombies in the area, we could build a road through the mountains to connect it to the shelter and make the animal park a base. Then we could use the well we've dug, along with cement and steel bars, to build stronger walls, and also..."

As Zeng Mo listened to Xiao Yue's explanation, he slowly ate the delicious food on the table. When he finished, he set down his chopsticks and said:

"Sounds good. Go ahead with your plan. If you need anything, tell me. I'll bring some supplies out for you."

"Understood, Master. We're planning to appear in Golden Sea City as overseas merchants from the Sea Snake Tribe."

"Overseas merchants from the Sea Snake Tribe?" Zeng Mo thought for a moment, then nodded. "Good idea. That way, you'll be able to get support and favorable treatment from quite a few local forces."

"Even if we do get favorable treatment, we'll need connections to move around. I was thinking of waiting until Xiao Die opens up some underground channels, then spending a fortune to..."

Zeng Mo waved his hand. "No need to worry about that for now. Once we're sure what we need, you can come out with me and we'll pick up a batch of supplies."

Behind an enormous executive desk, a white-haired old man sat in a leather chair. A black suit covered his stout frame, and fury burned in his eyes.

Suddenly, a young man's voice rang out from beyond the door.

"Uncle, I've looked into the Sea Serpent family and the matter with the fake window. I've found out everything."

"Come in."

Hearing the old man's reply, the young man straightened his suit and strode up to the huge desk. He then drew out a chair and sat down.

The office door opened. A young man in a beige trench coat walked in, his expression cold and composed. He looked to be around twenty-five.

"Uncle."

"Speak."

"Uncle, the Sea Serpent family has many businesses and a lot of property. They've now opened branches in the surrounding cities."

"And that Sea Serpent girl is the older brother of the man you took a liking to under the golden orange tree last year. The one with the chunk of gold and the exotic gold-hair snake."

As soon as the young man finished speaking, the old man's eyes widened. He sprang up and slammed his hand onto the secretary's desk, roaring like a furious lion.

"The Sea Serpent family!"

The young man looked at the old man's expression and cautiously added, "Sorry, Uncle. That Sea Serpent girl is the older brother of the woman who killed Liu Fang's husband."

The old man's eyes widened even further. He stared at the secretary, who didn't care whether she lived or died, then shouted furiously, "You damn liar! Tell the people downstairs to send men out of town to bring me that exotic gold-hair snake. Then have them smash it into pieces! And as for that Sea Serpent girl, I want to see her beaten into a pulp!"

"Yes."

The young man nodded. After a moment, the corner of his mouth lifted into a cold smile.
