Fiora struck first.

Lux had matured early and developed well, but Fiora was still a head taller than her.

So Fiora chose to strike first, using her longer reach to seize control of the fight.

Fiora wielded a rapier, unlike the conventional arming sword in Lux's hand. Its slender blade made it light and swift, and its strikes were incredibly fast. In the blink of an eye, a flash of steel shot straight toward Lux.

The thrust aimed for a gap in the armor at Lux's elbow. A strike there could easily pierce her armor and incapacitate her without seriously injuring or killing her. Fiora had no intention of marrying an idiot, but she didn't want to take Lux's life for no reason, either.

After accepting the challenge, Fiora had been repeatedly warned by her father. Things were bad enough as it was; if she made an irreconcilable enemy of the Crown Guard family, the Laurent family might be doomed!

As Fiora saw it, Lux had stepped forward only to defend her family's honor, and probably had little skill of her own. She'd heard that Garen was talented, but she'd never heard that Lux had trained under a master or practiced diligently.

But to Fiora's great surprise, Lux handled the thrust with ease—even though it was more than enough to instantly defeat ninety-nine percent of Demacia City's noblewomen.

Not only did Lux react in time, she even seized the opportunity created by Fiora's underestimation. She swung her arm out, dodging the lightning-fast thrust while sweeping her sword across!

Lux's sword was much shorter than Fiora's rapier, but Fiora had leaned forward when she attacked, leaving her off balance. Lux's counterattack was highly effective. Caught off guard, Fiora had to take an awkward sideways step to evade Lux's strike.
