However, Mount Targon was so dangerous that no one was assigned to supervise the climb—the supervisor might well perish too.
So, in many cases, the Stone Crown Punishment was closer to "permanent exile with your political rights stripped away." After all, no one knew whether the condemned had actually gone climbing. As long as they didn't return to Demacia openly and appear before everyone, no one cared about the outcome of the climb.
In a sense, this was a loophole the Demacian Nobles had built into the law: they could turn a death sentence into the Stone Crown Punishment, then effectively deal with the offender through permanent exile.
Considering Lux's immense contributions to Demacia, her Stone Crown Punishment was even easier to carry out than a normal exile.
