In later historical accounts, this battle, known as the Great Victory of Nareumajel, was considered by mainstream opinion to be the starting point of the Shuriman tribes' formal ascent.
But in reality, after the Shuriman tribes' victory, the situation they faced remained quite grim.
Even after killing the "God of Mages" and launching a counterattack to seize the half-built ancient Nareumajel city, and despite the other nearby tribes suffering heavy losses in the war, the Shuriman tribes were left with almost no strength afterward.
A tribe of three thousand, even if they had reaped the rewards through Karya's meticulous planning, lost nearly a seventh of their population after the battle. While four hundred people might be a small loss for most tribes in the region, for the Shuriman tribes, it was a genuine crippling blow.
After this battle, the Shuriman tribes desperately needed to recuperate.
But recuperation wasn't as simple as just saying it.
In the Sea of Death, the Shuriman people had always survived by fighting for others, and as their numbers grew, they gradually developed some herding skills. However, when it came to farming and more complex management, it was almost entirely carried on Karya's shoulders.
Now, having arrived at the banks of the Shurima River, the Shuriman tribes had finally secured a relatively safe foothold. To continue developing, simple herding was no longer enough.
As for their old profession of being mercenaries...
The other tribes here didn't have the habit of spending resources to hire outsiders. Most of the time, tribes preferred to form teams with their own warriors and subordinate slaves, which provided combat strength and was cheaper.
Besides that, perhaps engaging in commerce was also a good option, but the problem was that the Shuriman people and the local inhabitants didn't speak the same language.
