A Toast to Surrendering Military Command

After ten years of change, and on the heels of the victory in the Nazumah Campaign, Demacian Nobles now saw grain not merely as "food to eat," but as "a promising investment for the future."

In the past, the lion's share of Shuriman trade had gone to the royal family. Ningwu Dao was the only route, and Golden Wheel Town had limited purchasing power. Everyone had watched the royal family feast, hoping that other parts of Shurima would start taking Demacian grain, too.

Unfortunately, for the time being, this transformation had been interrupted.

Nazumah had finally joined their sphere of influence, and Shuriman trade was on the verge of expanding. Naturally, nobles across the land had prepared extra grain during the autumn harvest, planning to make a big sale.

And now look what had happened: the price of grain had been sabotaged, leaving them stuck with all of it.

That was why the nobles were so anxious.

With their grain stuck in their hands, and Jarvan IV merely saying he would "investigate," who knew when the investigation would turn up anything?

Kumongra and Karduja were city-states thousands of miles away, much farther than Nazumah. If the investigation produced no results this year, their grain would go stale. Just thinking about the losses they'd take that year made their hearts ache!

Jarvan IV wasn't worried. The royal family could still sell its surplus grain from its directly controlled lands to Golden Wheel Town, to the Laquor people.
